Sacred Heart Academy's Health and Wellness Fair

Master Hong Liu and the Natural Healing Research Foundation shared valuable information at the Sacred Hearts Academy Health and Wellness Fair on September 8, 2012.

Interested parents and students of all ages came to learn medical Qi Gong exercises.  These exercises were selected to benefit children and adults who might be having difficulty learning, concerns with memory problems, or have been identified as having Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Under the watchful eye of Master Hong and the Qi Center Instructors, parents and students practiced three medical Qi Gong exercises which included “Goal Post”, “Happy Buddha” and “Rooster’s Comb”.   These fun and interactive exercises help to boost whole body circulation and are specifically designed to increase blood flow to the brain thus improving brain function.  Abdominal breathing was taught and practiced as a means to control and relieve stress.

Master Hong spoke about the usefulness of the exercises to boost memory and concentration that are important for effective learning.  Students were encouraged to use these as tools in their active learning environment as a means of calming and preparing themselves for learning.  Students were encouraged to share the exercises with their grandparents who could also benefit from them as they help to relieve the symptoms of diseases such as dementia and alzheimers.  These exercises are also being used with the Qi Center’s ongoing Senior Wellness Program.

A very special thank you to Master Hong, and the Qi Center volunteers- Wade Shigemasa, Pua Kekina, Joy Tanabe, Gwyne Ching, Tom Kupiec and Kathleen Ong.
